Best Wishes for the Holidays and Safe Travels!

It’s estimated that this Christmas and New Year will see record-breaking numbers of people travelling abroad.  The rush starts tomorrow, Friday, with Saturday being the busiest getaway day.  In your rush, don’t forget to check that your travel insurance is up to date and provides cover for all your planned activities.  Remember to leave yourself plenty of time to get to the airport and allow for delays at check-in and security!

It seems that many people are heading off to sunnier climes for the holidays and foregoing the traditional celebrations at home this year.  Others are heading off to the slopes, where snow conditions in Europe are much better than last year, or to North America and Canada where the snow conditions and exchange rate are both great.  In your rush to get your ski gear packed, double-check to make sure your ski insurance is current – (please don’t leave without it – it just isn’t worth taking the risk).   Many people seem to be opting for short city breaks over New Year.

We’ve been watching for updates on the threatened strikes by Virgin Atlantic cabin crew over pay, and a possible walk-out by BAA airport staff.  Thankfully, it appears that Virgin Atlantic will not be disrupting the holiday plans of millions.  However, they have voted for strikes which will happen in January, after the rush.  The days scheduled for the 48-hour walk-outs are January 9th and January 16th 2008, so if you have flights booked during these periods we’d suggest you contact your travel agent or Virgin Atlantic as soon as possible to see what can be done.  There doesn’t seem to be any news about the threatened BAA walkout, so let’s hope no news is good news.

Although a bit short-staffed, we will be in the office to assist you on Friday 21st and Monday 24th December and then back on 27th.  So we’ll take this opportunity to wish you all a wonderful Christmas!  We also wish you safe and trouble-free travels and look forward to assisting you with your travel insurance needs during 2008!
