Travelling to Australia? It’s World Youth Day in Sydney July 2008
Sydney is a buzzing and lively place at any time of the year. Anyone with plans to visit soon should be aware that the city will be extra busy from 15 to 20 July due to World Youth Day (WYD) events. There is likely to be disruption to travel, and hotels may be fully booked. Obtaining flights could also be a problem during this time. WYD, organized by the Catholic Church, is the largest youth event in the world. It will bring together young people from all over the world, with more than 125,000 international visitors expected. Pope Benedict XVI will make his first visit to Australia to attend the event, arriving in Sydney Harbour on the 17th.
