Bank Holiday Weekend Travel Update and Gripes
If it wasn’t for the fact that we all love to travel it’s doubtful that anyone would bother with all the hassle! Having spent precious time, money and energy making elaborate plans for your getaway, you find that some killjoy or other has plans to disrupt your fun by going on strike. Their disputes may well be genuine, but that doesn’t help to soothe frayed tempers for those affected. With the Spring Bank Holiday weekend looming the forecast is not good - weather-wise or travel-wise.
Millions of cars are predicted to be hitting the roads, so allow plenty of time to reach your destinations. Those who tried to get a head start and beat the crowds heading for the Continent on Tuesday had to face closure at the Port of Dover due to industrial action by French fishermen at Boulogne, Calais and Dunkirk. Is it a conspiracy? For information and updates contact your transportation operator.
Those hoping to travel by Eurostar this weekend could also be in for disrupted travels because of strikes by Belgian rail staff and French general workers. Eurostar passengers affected by the actions will be entitled to refunds, but watch out for further disruptions in France affecting bus, rail and air passengers. Check the RATP and SNCF websites for updates. Here’s hoping everyone will manage to get to their destinations and have a great weekend despite the travel demons. I’ll be staying at home. This rosbif is well and truly done!
