American Airlines Cutting Stansted-New York/JFK Route
With the recent failures of Eos and MAXjet and the current financial problems of Silverjet, it appears there is just not enough demand for flights from Stansted. The news of American cutting its Stansted-New York route after less than a year will not bode well for those arguing in favour of an extra runway! With the high cost of oil no doubt we will be seeing a lot more cutbacks by the airlines. The last American flight departs from Stansted on July 2, 2008.
American plans to continue its services from Heathrow, including the New York/JFK route where it offers Flagship check-in services for Business and First Class customers. Passengers can collect double mileage on flights to JFK booked before June 30. According to their website, American will be contacting customers affected by the Stansted cuts to make other travel arrangements.
No matter where you fly from, we are always here to offer low-cost and dependable travel insurance so why not get a quote.
