Strike by Passport Staff - Check Your Travel Documents for Expiry Dates
It’s a good idea to post reminders on your computer or calendar to check the expiry dates of passports, visas, travel insurance, EHIC, etc. rather than waiting until the last minute. You just never know when strikes might occur and your much-needed holiday could disappear into a beaurocratic crevasse.
News of the passport office strike will no doubt strike fear into the hearts of many holidaymakers who have left passport renewal to the last minute or forgotten to check expiry dates. The three-day strike may also mean unwanted delays in receiving passports for those with imminent travel dates.
The Identity and Passport Service (IPS) offices affected include the regional offices at Belfast, Durham, Glasgow, Liverpool, London, Newport and Peterborough. A spokesperson for the IPS stated that the offices will remain open for emergencies, and those who have arranged for premium service or have interviews scheduled will be dealt with as normal.
If such important matters as passport renewal are forgotten, how many people are travelling without taking out travel insurance?
