Alitalia Still Involved in Restructuring Negotiations
Alitalia will continue operating flights on schedule, honour tickets and reservations, and continue with its Frequent Flyer and all other Customer Service programs while restructuring is underway, according to a Press Release on the airline’s website.
Italy’s flagship airline is currently engaged in financial negotiations with investors after filing for bankruptcy on 29 August. It seems the Italian government is losing patience with the unions representing the workers, however, after their involvement was instrumental in the failure of the sale of the airline to Air France-KLM earlier this year.
Alitalia operates out of its hub at Leonardo da Vinci Airport in Rome and is the latest casualty in the airline industry due to the high cost of fuel.
