Travel Advisory for S. Texas and Houston Still in Force After Hurricane Ike

Following the chaos wrought by Hurricane Ike last week when it went ashore in Galveston, Texas, the Foreign Office (FCO) still has a travel advisory in force.

Serious damage to infrastructure includes flooding and loss of power to some areas, as well as curfews. The areas which were subject to mandatory evacuation before Ike hit have not been reopened.  Public transport is still disrupted and many businesses remain closed.  Although airports in the area have reopened, passengers are advised to check with their airlines for the current situation regarding cancellations or delays.  Visit the FCO website for updates and travel information.  For Travel Insurance click here.
