Cheap Ski Flights for 2008-2009 Season - and Win Free Flights!

It’s time to blow the dust off the ski equipment and get ready for some vertical fun.  Several deals are being advertised by budget airlines for ski flights so it’s time to get booking.  Here are a couple to whet the appetite:

Bmibaby has a sale on ski flights booked by next Tuesday, 30 September, for dates of travel between December 1 and January 31 2009.  Fares start at £29.99 one way inclusive of taxes and charges.  The airline fries from Birmingham to Milan-Bergamo – which gives access to skiing in northern Italy.  Flights from Birmingham, Cardiff, E. Midlands and Manchester offer on-line check-in for flights to Geneva and Malaga for access to a selection of ski resorts.  We advise thoroughly checking the terms and conditions before booking.  For example, there are additional charges for booking with a credit or debit card each way, a no refund policy, and restrictions include school holiday periods.  Ski and snowboard equipment incurs an extra charge of £17.99 per sector when booked online, up to a maximum weight of 20kgs according to their website section found by clicking on ‘Terms and Conditions’ and ‘Baggage’

Jet2 is also advertising deals on ski flights.  They fly from Belfast, Edinburgh, Leeds Bradford, Manchester and Newcastle to Chambery;  Blackpool, Leeds Bradford and Manchester to Geneva and Salzburg;  and Leeds Bradford to Salzburg.  Many other ski resorts are within reach of the Jet2 flights into Milan and Barcelona and there is a helpful drive times guide on their website to help you decide. The airline is also running a competition with a closing date of December 20 to win free ski flights to Geneva, Salzburg and Chambery so why not try your luck!

It took some considerable time and perseverance to find information regarding baggage charges for skis on Jet2’s website and the section was eventually located under the ‘Questions’ tab.  Ski equipment is charged at £22.50 per flight for each item up to 20kg, with a saving of £5 for booking online.  We would suggest calling the airline to confirm the exact terms.
