Travellers Stuck as Political Problems Continue in Thailand

Those with plans to fly to Thailand any time soon are no doubt nervously awaiting news and updates about the siege by protesters which closed the Suvarnabhumi International and Don Muang Airports.  The Foreign Office still has advisories in effect and travellers should avoid the airports and the surrounding areas until further notice.

Check with your tour operator, travel agent or airline for instructions if you are waiting for a flight back to the UK or other country.  Advisories and warnings are also in effect for the area around Government House and other areas of Thailand.   Travellers currently stranded in Thailand or with plans to visit should keep up with news and consult the Foreign and Commonwealth Office (FCO) website if possible.

According to information provided by the FCO, the Tourist Authority of Thailand has an advice hotline for those stranded in Thailand: 02 356 0720.  The British consular personnel in Bangkok can be reached on 02 305 8333.
