West Indies vs England Cricket Tour 2009 Dates and Info

The winter cricket tour is already underway in the sunny Caribbean, with the England team in St.Kitt’s until January 31.  The tour will take in matches at seven venues between now and April.

Whether you are a Windies fan, travelling to take in some cricket action along with an exotic holiday, or a non-fan planning a trip but wishing to avoid it all, here’s a brief summary of the schedule:

January 21-31 – St. Kitts
February 1-8 – Jamaica
February 9-17 – Antigua
February 18-March 2 – Barbados
March 3-15 – Trinidad
March 16-22 – Guyana
March 23-29 – Barbados
March 30 –April 3 – St. Lucia
April 4 Team returns to the UK

The Foreign Office (FCO) has issued some excellent tips and information for those planning to travel to the West Indies for the cricket.   They strongly urge travellers to take out travel insurance and make sure that all activities you plan to participate in (especially water sports) are covered.  According to the information on their website, medical cases are often referred from St. Lucia and Antigua to Martinique and although the European Health Insurance Card (EHIC) may be used there, free medical care is not always guaranteed, so always have travel insurance as well as the EHIC, just to make sure.
