Kenya Visa Fees Cut in Half – Time for Safari!

Kenya’s Minister of Tourism, Hon. Najib Balala, recently announced that the cost for an entry visa for Kenya will be cut in half in a bid to boost tourism – and especially to attract families.

From April 1, 2009 until the end of 2010 the cost for an adult visa will be halved (formerly £35/$50) with free visas for children under 16 years of age.  The cut in visa fees represents a significant saving for a family of four.  A visa is valid for three months with the possibility of a further three-month extension.  Many in the travel industry are calling for the visa fee to be waived entirely, so watch for updates.  According to travel industry news, many companies selling safaris are cutting their brochure prices.  So, if you’ve always dreamed of going on safari now is the time to do something about it.   Africa is not only about safaris though  – they have beautiful beaches too.

While thinking about or planning your safari, have a look at our Travel Guide and follow the links for the Foreign Office (FCO) website for updated travel information and advisories.  (At the time of writing the FCO has an advisory against ‘all but essential travel to within 30 km of the Kenya-Somalia border’).

Note: Passports must be valid for at least three months from the date of entry into Kenya, with at least one blank page available (at the time of writing).
