Alaska’s Mt Redoubt Volcano Disrupting Air Traffic
A sixth explosive eruption occurred overnight at the Mt Redoubt volcano, which is located just over 100 miles southwest of Anchorage, Alaska. Some flights into Anchorage International Airport have been cancelled or rerouted due to the volcanic ash plume, which has reached an estimated 60,000 ft above sea level.
Live footage does not appear to be available at the moment and there are reports that the eruptions have blown the webcams and other equipment off the mountain. Experts predict that eruptions will continue for some time yet. No doubt we haven’t heard the last of Redoubt.
Visit the Ted Stevens Anchorage International Airport website for flight information, and the Alaska Volcano Observatory website for other useful links and information.
