Kazhakstan vs England FIFA World Cup Match – June 6
This 2010 World Cup qualifying football match in the Central Stadium, Almaty is set for June 6, 2009. To obtain tickets members should contact the English Football Association or the Kazakhstan Football Federation well in advance (Tel: +7 7272 924492 – Note: tickets are not available from the British Embassy in Kazakhstan).
A valid visa is required for British passport holders – which can be obtained from the Kazakhstan Embassy in London. Passports should be valid for at least three months from the date of leaving Kazakhstan, with a supply of empty pages for visa and immigration stamps. Hotels in Almaty should be booked well in advance as they are likely to fill quickly.
Advice for fans travelling to the match:
- Keep your passport with you to use as ID in case stopped by police
- Keep a copy of the information page of your passport in a safe place
- Signs of drunkenness may cause refusal of entry to the ground
- Avoid any contact with drugs as the authorities have a zero-tolerance policy
- No glass bottles or alcohol in the stadium
- Don’t leave drinks unattended and be wary of strangers buying drinks as they could be spiked
- Beware of pickpockets, especially at the stadium bars
- Make a note of these emergency numbers: Police 101; Fire 102; Ambulance 103
