Mobile Phone Roaming Charges Cut – Summer Deal!
Do you dream of the day that you can sit on the beach at your favourite EU resort with your mobile switched on, making calls as if you were at home in the UK? Well, very soon you will be able to!
Vodafone is abolishing summer roaming charges for Europe, from June 1 through August 31, 2009. Vodafone customers will be able to text, talk, and send picture messages from more than 35 countries, as well as New Zealand and Australia, for the same price as they would pay in the UK.
To get in on the Vodafone three-month trial (which includes monthly and pre-payment) customers will have to opt into the Vodafone Passport service. Whether or not the trial will be successful enough for Vodafone to make it permanent remains to be seen, but there are bound to be plenty of takers. Those already signed up for Vodafone Passport will be automatically included in the trial. For more information visit the Vodafone website.
More good news on the phone front… A recent ruling by the EU will see the cost of overseas phone calls dropping by as much as 60 percent over the next couple of years, with the first phase starting on July 1. The previous price cap, limiting how much mobile phone companies can charge customers for calls throughout the UK, was set in 2007.
