Scottish Tour Operator ‘ScotTravel Holidays’ Has Ceased Trading
Sadly, another tour operator has bitten the dust… ScotTravel Holidays (also trading as Scottravel) has gone into administration, leaving hundreds of customers with advance bookings disappointed and an estimated more than 1200 holidaymakers abroad. ScotTravel, which was based close to Glasgow, specialised in holidays to Turkey with direct flights from Edinburgh, Aberdeen and Glasgow. An announcement on the company website states:
“We regret to inform you that as from 4 June 2009 ScotTravel Holidays has ceased trading. Any customers with enquiries should refer to the caa website. For any forward departures passengers should not make their way to the airport.”
ScotTravel operated a package holiday programme, which is protected under the Civil Aviation Authority’s ATOL scheme, and those customers should contact the CAA. Customers who purchased accommodation-only should follow the advice on the CAA website.
The CAA is making arrangements for holidaymakers currently abroad to be flown home at the end of their stay. Several inbound flights will be operating over the weekend and flight information is posted on the CAA website.
