Bermuda – Hurricane ‘Bill’ Watch Still in Effect

The first Atlantic hurricane of the season – a Category 3 hurricane named ‘Bill’ – was downgraded but may be reinstated to Category 4 on Friday.  Strong winds and waves are forecast to batter Bermuda during Friday pm and Saturday and some cruise ships have been rerouted.  The east coast of the U.S. will also be affected with big surf and possible riptides.  Flights in and out of Bermuda may be disrupted and those with plans to travel in the vicinity should monitor the situation and check for updates.  The Atlantic hurricane season runs from June through November.

Visitors with British passports do not need a visa to enter Bermuda, but pre-booked accommodation is a requirement. Also, travellers should note that tourists are not permitted to rent cars or drive on Bermuda, although it is permitted to hire scooters.  Transportation on the island via ferries, buses and taxis is reported to be reliable.

Bermuda is a beautiful and friendly place and when approaching from the sea it is often possible to smell the fragrance of the island before it is visible.  Bermuda is also considered to be quite conservative.  For example, visitors should take care to dress modestly and remember that it is an offence to be seen in public wearing a bikini top or to go without a shirt.  Drinking alcohol in public, other than in licensed premises, is also not permitted.

Hmm it looks like your blog ate my first comment (it was extremely long) so I guess I’ll just sum it up what I wrote and say, I’m thoroughly enjoying your blog. I too am an aspiring blog blogger but I’m still new to the whole thing. Do you have any points for first-time blog writers? I’d definitely appreciate it.
