Holiday in the Sun – Why Resist the Temptation?

Despite the recession there are clear indications that Brits have not given up on their holidays, although it appears they are often choosing less expensive alternatives such as self-catering or staycations.  

According to ABTA, the travel organisation, more than two million British holidaymakers are giving in to temptation this Bank Holiday weekend and heading to Turkey and popular Mediterranean resorts to escape the iffy British weather and find some guaranteed sun. 

Surveys conducted on behalf of Communications watchdog ‘Ofcom’ recently reported that during the recession many UK residents would prefer to cut their budget for holidays, home improvements and eating-out rather than give up their mobile phones, TV package and broadband.  

This particular watchdog doesn’t look happy about giving up his favourite indulgence:  (Oh boy, do we all know that feeling!) 

We decided to conduct our own unofficial (unbiased?) survey.  The results are in and the overwhelming conclusion is that people are definitely not willing to give up their holiday in the sun – any more than they would willingly give up consoling themselves with the occasional cupcake!  

The government may preach doom and gloom and urge us to tighten our belts, but who can survive on cake alone – the icing is the best part!  Down Boy!
