Typhoon Ketsana – Where Will Disaster Strike Next?

Charities, including the British Red Cross and Oxfam, have launched appeals to help support emergency relief services for victims of Typhoon Ketsana which has affected areas of the Philippines, Cambodia, Laos and Vietnam in the past few days. Hundreds have been killed in the devastation.  Flooding and other serious problems are ongoing in many areas.

Although British Foreign and Commonwealth Office (FCO) advisories against travel are not in force for the above countries at the time of writing (regarding Typhoon Ketsana) there are restrictions on travel to certain areas of the above countries, so always check the FCO ‘Travelling and Living Abroad’ Country Advice sections for important advice and updates before travelling.  The FCOs ‘Know Before You Go’ campaign is a valuable service which all travellers should take advantage of.

Along with the recent earthquakes and tsunami in Indonesia and the S. Pacific, these natural disasters should serve as a wake-up call from Mother Nature for all travellers!

Another FCO valuable and free service is available by registering with their LOCATE service before travelling.  You just never know when disaster might strike.  You and your loved ones will be glad of the assistance provided through LOCATE  if it becomes necessary.

Be a savvy traveller and travel with peace of mind - knowing that you have done all you can do to protect yourself against unforeseen problems.  It simply is not worth trying to save a bit of money by skipping travel insurance!

We offer cheap travel insurance policies for all types of travellers, including Backpacker travel insurance from just 20p per day, as well as policies for Senior Citizens. Why not get a quote and see for yourself how affordable peace of mind can be!
