Always Confirm Flights!

A word of advice:  Make a habit of always confirming your flight before heading to the airport.

It is important to keep your airline updated of any changes to your contact information – especially your email address.  This is very important to remember when a flight has been booked a long time in advance.

If a flight is cancelled or changed the airline may send this information to you via the email address they have on file.  If you have changed your email address (and no longer check the old one) you will obviously not receive this important notification – and it will not be the airline’s fault.

Most important:  If you head to the airport for a flight that no longer exists it is unlikely that any travel insurance policy will provide compensation for your associated losses!

The airline will probably understand and rebook a flight for you on the next available date, but this may not be much consolation if you have booked non-refundable accommodation, rental car, activities, etc.
