Holiday Plans and Pet Care
Coming to an agreement over holiday plans often involves hours of discussion and back and forth – and a big dollop of compromise - to avoid any fur flying.
One may prefer a lazy holiday in the sun with lots of naps, pampering, good food and romance, while the other may long for adventure and exploration, pursuing outdoor activities and sports – all ending with nights out on the tiles.
In reality, while you are lying on a tropical beach or off on safari, your adorable feline friends will probably be spending their holiday in a cattery!
Whatever the decision on your purrfect holiday, it’s good to know that your best friends (whether cats or dogs) are well cared for in your absence. If you prefer to take them along there are plenty of pet-friendly hotels available.
A feature of some travel insurance policies – which many people are unaware of – is a section which provides for ‘Pet Care.’ Several of our policies include ‘Pet Care’ under Section F3. This provides cover if you should be delayed for more than 12 hours on your return flight, rail, or sea trip to the UK or Republic of Ireland. The cost of additional kennel and/or cattery fees may be reimbursed at £10 per day, up to a maximum of £100 – with no excess payable. Check your individual policy for terms and conditions.
If you are taking your pet overseas don’t forget to check the Directgov website for advice and information about the Pet Travel Scheme (PETS) Click here.
