Father’s Day – Don’t Forget!
Wishing a
Happy Father’s Day to all the dads out there!
In case you had forgotten, this Sunday – 20 June 2010 - is Father’s Day (or Fathers’ Day, if you prefer) in the UK, USA and Canada.
The day is celebrated all over the world to honour fathers and father figures, but not always at the same time. The third Sunday in June is the most common date – in more than 50 countries of the world.
- Father’s Day on 20 June 2010 is celebrated in the UK, the United States and many other countries, including Canada, France, Greece, Hong Kong, Ireland, Switzerland, Malta, South Africa, Barbados and Belize
- Australia and New Zealand celebrate Father’s Day on the first Sunday in September – which will fall on 5 September this year
- Italy, Portugal and Spain already celebrated Father’s Day on 19 March
If your father lives in a country not listed above check for the correct date.
The way to many a man’s heart is through his stomach, so a home-cooked meal or lunch or brunch treat always goes down well. (At the moment most dads may be too engrossed in the World Cup to think about much else though…)
If your father lives close by why not check for events in your area, especially motorcycle, car racing, sports, boats, aeroplane, bird-watching, or anything related to his interests. The National Trust, for example, puts on special events at many of its properties for Father’s Day. Who doesn’t love a Cream Tea treat in beautiful surroundings…
Depending on finances, you could take him on a trip to visit family or arrange for him to visit you, or pass along some great tips and ideas for his next road trip and send him off in style…
If your dad enjoys good health and is able to travel, remind him that it’s a good idea to have travel insurance for all his trips. We also offer travel insurance for Senior Citizens if he is above a certain age.
We are a well-established company, also offering excellent rates on quality Vehicle and Motorcycle Breakdown Cover (with free trailer and caravan recovery) and Motorcycle Travel Insurance.
If the distance between you makes a visit impossible - at the very least make him feel special and remembered… Pop a card in the post and give him a call on his special day. If your father is no longer around (for whatever reason) why not take the opportunity to make another important male figure in your life feel really special for the day.
Happy Father’s Day!
