Inter v Atletico – Super Cup

The 2010 UEFA Super Cup marks the 35th year of this annual competition. 

The match takes place on Friday, 27 August 2010 with kick off at 8:45 (CET) (7:45pm UK time).  The venue is the Stade Louis II in beautiful Monaco.

Those who are planning a trip to Monaco (but not for the football) may wish to plan their visit to avoid the match date.
 
This year Internazionale (winners of the 2009/10 Champions League) meet Atletico Madrid (winners of the 2009/10 Europa League).  This is a first for both teams in the Super Cup. 

To earn their places in the Super Cup, Inter beat Bayern Munich 2-0 and Atletico beat Fulham 2-1. 

Barcelona claimed the trophy for last year’s Super Cup in Monaco after a 1-0 win over Shakhtar Donetsk.

Tickets were first allocated to fans of both competing teams and the remaining ticket sale to the general public was by application and ballot, which closed on 16 July (via UEFA.com).  No doubt tickets can still be bought at a price – but, as always, beware of fakes!

British nationals flying out to Monaco should be aware that Monaco is not part of the EU and there are no reciprocal arrangements for medical care.  Therefore, the European Health Insurance Card (EHIC) is not valid.  It is very important to take out comprehensive travel insurance and check that the policy covers all your planned activities, as well as adequate cover for emergency medical treatment and medical repatriation.
