Switzerland vs. England
England travel out to play Switzerland in a UEFA Euro 2012 Qualifier this coming Tuesday, 7 September 2010.
The venue is the Stadion St. Jakob-Park in Basel, with kick-off at 8:45 pm local time (7:45 pm UK time).
The Foreign Office (FCO) has published useful ‘advice for travelling football fans’ for England fans travelling out to support the team, as well as emergency contact information.
The FCO advice includes visa/entry requirements, information on getting to the stadium, driving advice, and much more. Note that hotel guests will automatically be given a transport pass for their stay.
Pack your European Health Insurance Card (EHIC) but it is important to also take out travel insurance and ensure that the policy covers (potentially very expensive) medical repatriation.
Note that in Switzerland if you do not have travel insurance and use the EHIC only you will be required to pay in full for any medical treatment upfront and claim back the money when you return to the UK. It is also required that you pay half of the cost if you need an ambulance, including air ambulance.
Visit our Travel Guide to Switzerland and follow the link for the FCO for updated and important travel advice for Switzerland.
