Insurance for Children
Posted on October 27th, 2006, Richard. Filed under Travel News,I was handed a newspaper clipping earlier this week which posed the question of insuring children when they were travelling on their own. It appears that a number of travel insurance companies would not offer the author’s daughter a policy because she was travelling unaccompanied (even though she would be looked after by stewardesses and be met at the airport).
Travel Insurance Direct’s policies have no restrictions on age, only that an unaccompanied child will be charged the adult rate.
We have an extrememly good value young person’s “Backpacker” style of insurance which could be ideal. Backpacker Insurance.
Alternatively, if parents or legal guardians have purchased a Travel Insurance Direct Annual Policy and named the child – free of charge – on the insurance, then the youngster could travel fully insured even if on their own. Annual Travel Insurance.
