famous western cousins. Between the Catskill and
Adirondack mountain ranges there are enough places to ski to

resorts may not have the glamour of some of the better known
places but they are nevertheless very popular. Lake Placid
is a well known for having been the location of the Winter Olympics.
Whiteface/Lake Placid, Gore Mountain and Belleayre Mountain
are New York’s three state owned and operated resorts. They
are all good family areas with a variety of terrain and plenty

Ski Resorts in New York, USA
In the Adirondack Mountains in the north part
of the state you will find the following ski areas: Dry
Hill Ski Area, Gore Mountain, McCauley Moutain, Mt. Van Hoevenberg,
Oak Mountain, Royal Mountain, Titus Mountain, West Mountain,
Willard Mountain and Whiteface Mountain.
The Catskills in the southeastern part of the
state has the following areas: Belleayre Mountain, Catamount
Ski Area, Holiday Mountain, Hunter Mountain, Mt. Peter. Ski Plattekill,
Thunder Ridge and Windham Mountain.
At the Leatherstocking area, in the central part
of the state, you can ski at Four seasons, Greek Peak Mountain

Belleayre Mountain
Belleayre Mountain is located just a few hours from New York
City. The area has snowcat skiing, 39 trails and five glades. Boarders
are welcome and there is one terrain park, one rail park and
one half pipe. There are also plenty of trails for Nordic
skiers.

Gore Mountain
Gore Mountain is located in the southern part of the Adirondack
Mountains. A destination resort, it is great for family

Whiteface / Lake Placid
Located nine miles from Lake Placid and two miles from Whiteface
Village at Wilmington, this award-winning area is famous for
the 1980 Olympic Winter Games. It remains a premiere winter
sports area boasting the longest vertical drop east of the Rockies. You
can even ride the bobsled run on the original Olympic track or
learn to ski jump. There are plenty of amenities in the
close by villages of Lake Placid and North Creek.
