Skiing in Connecticut is not going to put you in nose-bleed elevations,
but there are some decent ski areas for a day or weekend trip, and
the gentler slopes are great for beginners. Many of the
areas use almost 100% snowmaking and most cater for boarders.
Ski areas include Mohawk Mountain, Mt. Southington, Powder Ridge
(check for opening), Ski Sundown and Woodbury Ski Area.
Ski Sundown is located in New Hartford and offers plenty for those
wishing to learn to ski or board. With fifteen trails (14 lighted)
snowmaking and a top elevation of 1,075 feet, there is plenty here
to provide for a fun day in the snow.
Woodbury Ski Area also has snowmaking, a tubing hill and cross-country
skiing, skate park and snow biking.
