The State of Michigan is a winter wonderland with more than 25 places to find some wintesports fun, and some quality ski resorts.  They all have snow making equipment just in case, so you can be sure of a good base to ski on.  Boyne Mountain is a popular destination for family skiing.  Nubs Nob in the lower part of the State is also a popular area.  The mountains in the upper part of the state tend to be more challenging and steep. 

In Lower Michigan you will find the following resorts:  Boyne Highlands, Boyne Mountain, Caberfae Peaks, Crystal Mountain, Hanson Hills, Mio Mountain, Mt. Holiday, Nubs Nob, Shanty Creek, Skyline Ski Area, Snow Snake Mountain, Sugar Loaf Mountain, Treetops/Sylan.

In the Upper Peninsula area you will f ind the following ski resorts:  Big Powderhorn, Blackjack, Indianhead Mountain, Marquette Mountain, Mont Ripley, Norway Mountain, Pine Mountain, Porcupine Mountain and Ski Brule.

In the Southern part of the State you will find:  Alpine Valley, Mt. Brighten, Mt. Holly and Pine Knob.

Big Powderhorn

Located in the western Upper Peninsula area of the State.  Big Powderhorn offers 29 trails (34% beginner, 38% intermediate, 28% advanced), 250+ acres of skiable terrain, longest run of one mile, and nine lifts.  There is great skiing for all levels, snowboarders are welcome and there are three terrain parks.  With three lodges, a skating rink, horse drawn sleigh rides nearby and Nordic trails you will find plenty to do.

Boyne Mountain / Boyne Highlands

Located in the northern part of Michigan.  At these resorts you will find wonderful groomed slopes and some of the steepest and longest runs.  With two mountains, offering a total of 111 downhill runs, 846 combined skiable acres and an almost even mix of beginner, intermediate and expert runs.  20 total lifts and average snowfall of 140 inches.  There are 80 km of cross country trails.  There are terrain parks at both resorts, offering jumps, hits and rails a super pipe and half pipe.

Alpine Valley

Alpine Valley
Located in the south-eastern part of Michigan, there is plenty of family skiing and boarding fun to be found at Alpine Valley.  With a vertical drop of 300 feet, summit elevation of 1,210 feet.  25 runs (11 beginner, 6 intermediate, 8 advanced), 10 chair lifts and 6 surface lifts.  Web site:  www.skialpinevalley.com.
