The State of Michigan is a winter wonderland with more than 25 places to find some wintesports fun, and some quality ski resorts. They all have snow making equipment just in case, so you can be sure of a good base to ski on. Boyne Mountain is a popular destination for family skiing. Nubs Nob in the lower part of the State is also a popular area. The mountains in the upper part of the state tend to be more challenging and steep. Big PowderhornLocated in the western Upper Peninsula area of the State. Big Powderhorn offers 29 trails (34% beginner, 38% intermediate, 28% advanced), 250+ acres of skiable terrain, longest run of one mile, and nine lifts. There is great skiing for all levels, snowboarders are welcome and there are three terrain parks. With three lodges, a skating rink, horse drawn sleigh rides nearby and Nordic trails you will find plenty to do. At these resorts you will find wonderful groomed slopes and some of the steepest and longest runs.
