Known as the Land of Waterfalls and set amid many mountains, North Carolina has plenty of natural beauty with over 250 waterfalls and its scenic state and national forests.  There is also a lively arts and music community.   Transylvania takes on a less scary look in North Carolina, as this county is a wonderland for outdoors enthusiasts with Gorges State Park, Dupont State Forest and Pisgah National Forest where there are plenty of trails for biking, hiking and horse riding.

Among other attractions in this lovely state, you will find vineyards, interesting civil war history and motor racing.  It is also home to the beginning of aviation and the famous Wright brothers who in 1903 made the first flight over the Outer Banks in North Carolina.

Other ski areas and resorts in North Carolina include Appalachian Mountain, Beech Mountain, Hawksnest, Sapphire Valley and Sugar Mountain.
