Alpine Lake
Resort
Alpine Lake Resort is located close to Terra Alta in the Allegheny
Mountains of northern West Virginia. The Alpine Lake area
has plenty of outdoor activities on offer including miles of
cross country skiing along a lake.

Canaan Valley Resort
Canaan Valley Resort State Park is the other resort which

Timberline
Located in the central Canaan Valley near Davis, Timberline
offers one of the two downhill resorts in Canaan Valley, other
being Canaan Valley Resort State Park. Timberline and Canaan
Valley form a large ski area.
Timberline has 36 slopes, including tubing and sledding. A
summit elevation of 4,268 feet, vertical rise of 1,000 feet,
36 runs and trails with runs for all levels of skier, longest
run of 2 miles, 3 chair lifts, and average 150 inches of snow
annually.

Snowshoe Mountain
Snowshoe Mountain Resort is located in the Allegheny Mountains. The
resort itself sits at the top of the slopes rather than the bottom. It
offers 57 runs, 14 lifts, terrain gardens, 235 skiable acres,
summit elevation of 4,848 feet and vertical drop of 1,500 feet. Longest
run 1.5 miles. Annual snowfall 180 inches average. Night
skiing available. Snowmaking. Women’s
ski and snowboard camp. Cross country skiing, snowshoeing,

Winterplace Ski Resort
Winterplace is located in the southeast of the state. The
resort offers 28 downhill runs, summit elevation 3,600 feet,
base elevation 2,997 feet, vertical drop 603 feet, 90+ acres
of skiable terrain and runs for mainly beginner and intermediate
with only 15% advanced runs. 10 lifts include 2 quads,
2 doubles, 3 triples, 2 super carpets and 1 surface. There
is also a tubing park and boarding park. Night skiing is
available on 25 slopes, as well as the tubing park and terrain
park.
