FCO Country Advice for The Seychelles
Although
they may be closer to Africa they are certainly closer to India in
cultural and geological ways. The islands were "left behind" as
the Indian sub-continent moved northward on its way to collide with
Asia . The islands were formed when the Indian sub-continent shifted
northwards to join with Asia . The Seychelles is made up of 115 separate
islands, all of the ‘Robinson Crusoe’ variety.
Arguably the best looking island is La Digue. The island has a real
old world charm, some say that its as if time stands still. The way
of life on La Digue has been unchanged for years and ox-cart’s
and bicycles are still the main form of transport. The island can
be reached by boat or helicopter.
