There are great swathes of desert, with stunning oasis, tropical
style beaches and ancient cities, you’ll also find a abundance
of carpets! The people are warm and friendly and this all makes
for a very attractive desination.
The old towns of Sfax and Mahdia are well worth a visit. However,
a few of the coastal towns are hugh tourist traps which some
people will want to avoid.
If your looking for stunning scenery then the west of Tunisia
is for you. You can take an old train which dates back to the
1920’s which is refered to as the lizard due to the way
that the track winds through the mountains.
You will find the south of Tunisia is mainly desert. If you
are a Star Wars buff, the first film was made at the cave dwellings
at Matmata. Dream Island , or to give it its official name Jerba,
is another fantastic destination in the south.
