About Newcastle Airport
The airport here really grew from humble beginnings with
he advent of package holidays. when in the 1950's, passenger
numbers were boosted to a heady 5,500 with destinations including
the Isle of Man and Channel Islands. 1970 saw a number of improvements
including being upgraded to a Regional International Airport,
and by the 1980s traffic had grown to 1.24 million. The passenger
terminal as it stands today was built during the 1990s. All airlines
and passenger flights operate from this terminal.

How to Get There
The airport is a short 15 minutes by road from Newcastle City
Centre and there is a direct connection via the A696 from the
main A1. Rail passengers will find the Metro links Newcastle
Central Station with the airport. The Metro journey take just
over 20 minutes from the railway station and operates up to
7 services a minute. There is also a regular bus service from
the city centre with services 75, 76, 77 and 79 running from
Eldon Square.
Refreshments and Shopping
Tax free and duty free shopping is available on the departure
lounge for international travellers and offers the usual range
of perfumes alcoholic drinks and tobacco. High street names
such as WH Smiths, Boots and Dixon's are also represented.
You will also find a wide range of refreshment facilities.

Servisair operates a lounge airside (located in the departure
lounge) and is open to passengers over the age of 12 years. Complimentary

This is the airport's official long and short term parking facility
and has a free courtesy bus operating to the terminal building
every 10 minutes. Transfers take less than five minutes.

and operates a 24 hour transfer service every half hour taking
