About Nottingham East Midlands Airport

Located just 18 miles to the south of Nottingham City Centre, the airport is situated conveniently close to three major cities in the E. Midlands : Derby , Leicester and Nottingham . The airport is also within reach of Tamworth , Stoke-on-Trent , and Sheffield . Since changing ownership in 2001 the airport has continued to thrive with passenger numbers soaring, especially since the introduction of flights by some low-cost carriers. The airport is also known as one of the UK ’s largest cargo airports. It is also just approx. 40 minutes drive to the famous theme park attraction at Alton Towers and is close to Donnington Race Track, Chatsworth House, and the lovely Peak District.

How to Get There

The airport is situated 13 miles (21km) SW of Nottingham . Driving from Nottingham, take the A52 west, then join the M1 at Junction 25 southbound, and proceed southbound until Junction 24, then exit and follow directions and signs to the airport.

Shopping

The airport has ATM machines and two ‘bureaux de change’ located inside the main terminal building. There are restaurants, cafes, a pub, bar, food village and sandwich bar and several shops including a duty-free shop. Internet stations are available both in Arrivals and on the first floor outside the Food Hall.

Business Facilities

Conference facilities are conveniently located nearby at the Hilton East Midlands Airport Hotel, Thistle East Midlands Airport Hotel, and The Express by Holiday Inn. The Hilton has 17 meeting rooms which will accommodate up to 300 delegates theatre style. The Thistle offers 18 air-conditioned meeting rooms seating up to 220 theatre style. The Express by Holiday Inn accommodates up to 40 delegates.

For travelers who are departing and need some peace and quiet or a place to work, the Servisair/GlobeGround Executive Lounge is available, but there is an additional charge. Children over eight are permitted as long as supervised. The Lounge can accommodate up to 56 customers and offers a variety of services, including bar area, newspapers and reading materials, television and flight information. For the business travelers there are desks, telephones, faxes and access to the internet.

Airport Car Parks

The airport has parking for over 4,000 cars. The car park for short stays (12 hours or less - no pre-booking) is located right outside the main terminal building and has a special pick up and drop off area where the first 30 minutes is free.

The Medium Stay car park is for travelers who need parking for up to four days. Pre-booking is available. This car park is within walking distance of the main terminal but there is also a free shuttle bus which runs regularly.

The Long Stay car park is for travelers who require parking for five days or longer. Pre-booking is available. There is a free shuttle bus to the terminal but be advised that it is a short distance away.

Disabled Passengers who hold a disabled badge are permitted to park in the Short Stay Car Park at the equivalent Medium or Long Stay rates.

Airparks Services Limited Offers a secure off-site parking service with 24 hour reception desk which is open all year. They have spaces for 1400 cars and transfer passengers to and from the airport by bus. All vehicles are parked by their staff. Upon return, just call their free phone number and a free bus will arrive to collect you and take you to your car. This is a service which removes a lot of the usual stress associated with traveling.

East Midlands Prestige Parking

This secured underground car park is just a short walk from the terminal and offers 24 hour secure manned parking. Valet services are also available for additional charges.

The Hilton East Midlands Airport Hotel****

Located just two miles from the Nottingham East Midlands Airport , this hotel has152 rooms and two Junior Suites and is ideal for the business traveler or tourist. All rooms are furnished and equipped to a high standard with separate working and sitting area, internet connection and Sony PlayStation. The hotel also has restaurants, a bar, lounge and a health club. There are 300 parking spaces with barriers and CCTV and is charged at £5/day for hotel guests.

Thistle East Midlands Airport Hotel****

This hotel is located at the entrance to the East Midlands Airport and is convenient for the nearby attractions. The hotel has 164 air-conditioned bedrooms, including some executive rooms. There is also a restaurant, lounge, bar, coffee shop and a health club. There is parking for hotel guests for a charge of £5/night, and additional parking for non-guests for £7.50/day. Located just a few minutes from the main Terminal at East Midlands Airport , this hotel has 90 comfortable rooms with rates available to include complimentary continental breakfast.
