FCO Country Advice for Thailand
Famous for it’s excellent fragrant cuisine, Thailand has
much to offer for the visitor: history, culture, the arts, fabulous
beaches, excellent nightlife and extremely friendly and hospitable
inhabitants. Travelling around is easy due to a expansive network
of buses, trains and airplanes.
The majority of visitors enter the country via Bangkok, a fascinating
place in itself. Using it as a base you can explore great cities
like the former capital Ayutthaya and Kanchanaburi, the crossing
point of the infamous River Kwai bridge.
There are many popular islands including Koh Samui and Phuket
Island, both have excellent beaches. Chiang Mai in the north
of Thailand is best known for Thai culture and the picturesque
scenery. |
